Boy by Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg jokes that, as a child growing up in Dayton, Ohio, he "stood out like a sore thumb, dressed in head to toe Ralph Lauren”.
Staying true to his rebel-prep roots, the former Hollywood agent has turned into one of the most buzzed-about newcomers in the fashion industry. Sternberg founded Band of Outsiders in 2004, making his mark on menswear with his quirky twists on classic staples. Girls were taking notice too, and snatching up the perfectly shrunken men's blazers and slim-cut oxford shirts in small sizes, inspiring the CFDA Fashion Award winner to launch a women's line in 2008, cheekily named Boy.
