Luxurious, romantic and quintessentially French, the ethos of Chloé is to make luxurious ready-to-wear for stylish women the world over. The brand name Chloé was chosen for its warm and feminine appeal; in sync with the mood of a true Parisian girl – youthful, modern and slightly audacious in spirit.

In 1956, Gaby Aghion and her business partner, Jacques Lenoir, created their debut collection. A rapid rise in popularity followed, and they began hiring fresh talent to design for the brand. In 1966 Karl Lagerfeld became the head designer in-house. Under his direction, Chloé existed as one of the most iconic fashion brands of the 1970s.

In the 80s, a series of talented designers, including Martine Sitbon, kept the collections fresh and ever-changing; whilst reiterating Chloé’s quixotic ability to be both cutting-edge and timeless at once. In 1997, Stella McCartney reinvented Chloé once again, with a romantic yet streetwise mix of vintage lingerie, tailoring, and signature low-rider trousers propelling the house to a new level of success.

2001 saw McCartney’s right-hand woman Phoebe Philo take hold of the design reigns; continuing the Chloé legacy of luxurious, audacious prêt-à-porter whilst stamping the house with her own unique signature; sexy daywear and graceful, fluid lines. Paulo Melim Andersson followed in 2006 and brought an edgy creativity to the brand, infused with modernity and wit.

2008 saw Hannah MacGibbon named Creative Director, bringing with her an overall creative vision to return Chloe to its roots: femininity and sophistication. More than fifty years after Gaby Aghion imagined it, Chloé’s vision of romantic, ultra feminine fashion lives on.
